I was fortunate enough to have a personal tour of Turn Park Art Space yesterday. Situated around an old quarry in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts, it has a unique architecture to the building that welcomes visitors to it. The majority of the art is sculptural and situated in the natural environment outside. Being that this is a young art space that is less than a year old, there is a lot of room for functions and additional sculpture. I truly enjoyed the use of space and keeping the majority of the area in a natural form that isn't highly manicured. The works of art become part of the landscape this way. The largest benefit I took from this visit is to continually evaluate my use of space and how my work interacts with the surrounding area where it is placed.
